WLS design recommendation lowers processing cost and rejection rate

This part was originally designed with a unique diamond pattern machined on its edge. Although beautiful, the pattern was expensive to produce, and it contributed to an unacceptable rejection rate.

At our customer’s request, we evaluated the part and determined that the additional cost required to create a unique pattern was non-value added processing. Subsequently, we re-designed the part using a standard pattern which altered the form while maintaining the function. Production time dropped immediately along with the rejection.
